Jobs and economic activity are critical to the lifeblood of rural communities. In 2007, USDA Rural Development’s Business and Cooperative Program infused local communities with nearly $110 million to support projects that grow or preserve jobs in rural areas.  It is estimated that over 3,000 jobs were either saved or created through the results of Rural Development’s business programs in 2007.

Rural Development works in partnership with the private sector and community-based organizations to provide financial assistance and business planning. Technical assistance is also provided to rural businesses and cooperatives.

Our programs include Business and Industry (B&I) Guaranteed Loans, Intermediary Relending Program Loans, Rural Business Enterprise Grants, Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants, and Rural Cooperative Development Grants.

USDA Rural Development’s theme, ‘’Committed to the future of rural communities,” also applies to our role as a valuable business partner to rural California. I invite you to learn more about the variety of services we provide to ensure a vibrant, strong rural economy in the Golden State.
