Intermediary Relending Program: USDA Rural Development provides technical assistance, research and educational materials to help improve the performance of rural cooperatives. Through various information products, it promotes greater public understanding of the cooperative business system. Cooperative Development Technical Assistance is available to help rural residents form new cooperative businesses and improve the operation of existing cooperatives. Rural Cooperative Development Grants are used to facilitate the creation or retention of jobs in rural areas through the development of new rural cooperatives, value-added processing and rural businesses. Grants may be made to nonprofit corporations and institutions of higher education for the purpose of establishing and operating center for rural cooperative development.
