State Director's WelcomePatty A. Clark
Welcome to USDA Rural Development, Kansas. Rural America
encompasses 80 percent of the nation's land area and is home to
about 20 percent of its people. Partnering with others to
create new opportunities for these 40 million or so rural Americans
is the goal of USDA Rural Development. A good job to go to in
the morning; a well-built, safe home with reliable water, electric
and telecommunications services to return to in the evening; life in
a rural community with good schools, quality health services,
dependable police and fire protection and an up-to-date library -
this is what USDA Rural Development is all about.
The Agency provides financial and technical assistance, which
have significant impact in our rural communities. This
assistance ensures that more rural residents are able to buy their
own homes, more senior citizens have safe and affordable places to
live, municipalities have a partner to fund critical infrastructure
projects such as water and sewer systems, rural citizens have newer
emergency equipment for fire and ambulance service and more
businesses are created or sustained to help ensure the availability
of jobs in our rural areas.
Each day we work hard to fulfill the mission of our Agency "to
improve the quality of life for and enhance economic opportunities
of rural Americans."
This web site serves to communicate the achievements,
partnerships with rural communities, and investments in Kansas, by
USDA Rural Development. As State Director, I welcome your
perusal of this information. If you are unfamiliar with USDA
Rural Development, these pages will provide information as to
identity and purpose.
