State Director Jay Healy

Massachusetts State DirectorOn July 2, 2009 President Obama appointed Jonathan “Jay” L. Healy to serve as State Director for USDA Rural Development in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Prior to becoming State Director, Mr. Healy was appointed by Governor William F. Weld in 1993 to serve as the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Food and Agriculture (MDAR).

Mr. Healy also served as a state representative for Charlemont, MA from 1970 to 1993.

Mr. Healy graduated from Suffolk University Law School (1981) and Williams College (1968). A working farmer, Jay has managed his family's Hall Tavern Farm since the early 1980’s.

Jay is married to Elizabeth Sutton Healy. They have two children, Eben and Elizabeth.
