FARM BILL PROJECTS ANNOUNCED:

Six towns in Maine will be receiving loans and grants for water and sewer projects.  On August 22, 2002, a celebration was held to honor the recipients of the money as well as the recipients of 2002 Rural Utilities funds.   Guest speakers at the event were: Steve Levy, Executive Director, Maine Rural Water Association; Wanda Calder, Treasurer, New Portland Water District; and Tom Todd, Superintendent, Newport Water District.  Also in attendance were representatives of Senator Snowe, Senator Collins and Congressman Baldacci.

In 2002, Rural Development has funded more than $21 Million in water and sewer projects in rural Maine.
