Self-Help Housing Program Fact Sheet 

HOW TO APPLY:

Click here for a list of Rural Development Area Offices. Basic information can be provided over the telephone, and an application will be mailed to you to be completed and returned to the office; or an appointment will be scheduled.

PURPOSE:

To help a group of  very-low and low-income families to finance and build quality, modest homes under the guidance of a construction supervisor.

PROCESS:

Groups of 6 to 10 families work together to perform approximately 65% of the construction of all the new homes. No   family moves into the homes until all the homes are completed, typically an 8 to 10 month process.
