MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING PROGRAMS

Farm Labor Housing Loans and Grants This program enables farmers, pubilc or private non-profit organizations, and units of State and local governments to build, buy, or repair farm labor housing in either dormitory or multi-family apartment style.

Rural Rental Housing Loans (Section 515 Program) This program rehabilitates rental units for low- and medium income people. It also provides rental assistance for those who otherwise would be unable to afford to rent those units.

Housing Preservation Grant These grants help sponsoring organizations repair rehabilitate individual housing, rental properties, or co-ops owned and/or occupied by very low- and low-income rural persons.

Guaranteed Rental Housing This program guarantees loans for development of mulit-family housing facilities in rural areas. Loan guarantees are provided for the construction, acquisition, or rehabilitation of rural multi-family housing.

Rental Assistance Program This program provides an additional source of support for households with incomes too low to pay the Rural Development subsidized (basic) rent from their own resources. Rural Development pays the owner of a multi-family housing complex the difference between the tenant's contribution (30 percent of adjusted income) and the monthly rental rate.
