§9006 Renewable Energy Systems
This program is obsolete. In 2009, the §9006 program was replaced by the Rural Energy for America Program.

The Section 9006 (§9006) program offers grants and/or loan guarantees for the purchase and installation of renewable energy generating systems. Assistance is limited to small businesses and farmers & ranchers. Projects must be located in a rural area. §9006 grants and guarantees may be used individually or in combination. Together they may finance up to 50% of a project's cost. Grants can never finance more than 25% of the project or $500,000 -- whichever is less. (The §9006 also supports energy efficiency projects.)

First-round §9006 grant application deadline was April 15, 2008.
Second-round §9006 grant application deadline was June 16, 2008.

Whether seeking a grant or a guaranteed loan, the applicant must submit the following items to RD. The make-up of a complete application differs depending on the cost of the project being proposed.
