|CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY GROUP IN MO BENEFITS FROM RURAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE|
|, Jun 25, 2010
Outline Of Need: The North Central Missouri Children's Advocacy Center was established in January of 2003, in response to a need for a child-friendly environment in which to interview children who have been the victims of abuse. The Center did not have adequate space to house the Agency.
How Rural Development Helped: Missouri USDA Rural Development State assisted in the funding with a $25,200 grant to the North Central Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center to assist in purchasing an office building to house the agency.
The Results:One of the primary goals of the center is to prevent the re-victimization of children by reducing the number of interviews the child has to go through during an investigation. The Center’s multi-disciplinary team consists of individuals from law enforcement, children’s division, mental health, medical personnel, prosecuting attorneys, and juvenile officers. Coordinated efforts of this team provide victims and their families with legal, medical, and social services to deal with the trauma of abuse. Agency personnel will now have space to administer the program.
