King City, MO, Oct 05, 2010 -- (October 5, 2010) King City, MO A $16,500 Mock Check was presented to the City of King City by Janie Dunning, Missouri State Director, on October 5, 2010.
The grant funds are being used to supplement a $13,500 contribution by the City for purchase and equipment for a new police car. This funding will allow the city to have a reliable police car to serve and protect the citizens of King City.
"With the help of competitive funds from the USDA, the King City Police Department will be able to purchase an additional patrol car," U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill said. "Providing greater police resources to the residents of King City is essential to the safety of its citizens."
The $16,500 in grant funds was made through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facility Program. This program is available to eligible public bodies and non-profit corporations to assist with the development of essential community facilities.
“This type of assistance mirrors USDA Rural Development’s mission and President Obama’s initiative of being committed to the future of rural communities," said Dunning. “Appreciation is extended to our federal elected officials for supporting USDA Rural Development. They have been strong proponents for the necessary funding for essential services for rural Missourians.”
