Wheatland, MO, Nov 17, 2010 -- (November 17, 2010) In a media celebration on November 17, 2010, Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, Missouri State Director for USDA Rural Development, announced funding for the purchase of a tractor with a loader. The tractor will be used by the City of Wheatland for maintenance and mowing around city sewer lagoon, park areas, streets, and for other purposes. The assistance is in the form of a Community Facility Disaster Grant of $18,750 from USDA, Rural Development. The City of Wheatland contributed $6,250 toward the total cost of $25,000.
“With the help of USDA competitive grant funds, the city of Wheatland will have a tractor to help maintain the landscape of the city,” U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill said. “Ensuring Wheatland has access to proper maintenance equipment is important to the livelihood of the community.”
“This is a great partnership effort when everyone works together for a common goal of meeting the needs of a community in providing essential equipment like the tractor and loader for maintenance of city property,” said Dunning. “This project mirrors USDA Rural Development’s mission of being committed to the future of rural communities. I want to personally thank everyone that has worked together to make this project a reality. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for these kinds of projects.”
