Dexter, Missouri, Sep 07, 2010 -- (September 7, 2010) Janie Dunning, Missouri State Director of USDA Rural Development, presented the City of Risco with a Certificate of Appreciation on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Risco City Hall. The certificate was presented to celebrate a $9,100 grant made available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The funds were used in conjunction with the City’s contribution of $7,500 to purchase and install a heating and cooling system for the facility currently serving as combination City Hall, Community Center and Public Library.
The new heating and cooling system will allow the City to use the current facility as an emergency shelter in the event of an extended power outage. The City has also secured a generator for the facility.
“The grant funds originated from Rural Development’s Community Facility Grant program,” said Dunning. “Funding important projects like the improvements to the library indicates that Rural Development is committed to the future of rural communities. Appreciation is extended to our federal elected officials for supporting USDA Rural Development. They have been strong proponents for the necessary funding for essential services for rural Missourians.”
