@@At a recognition ceremony on November 18, 2010, Cheryl R. Elliott, Area Specialist, USDA Rural Development, presented the City of Queen City with a certificate in honor of receiving of a grant in the amount of $14,670 funded through the USDA Rural Development Economic Impact Initiative Community Facility Grant Program.

The USDA Rural Development grant funds of $14,670 and the City’s contribution of $4890 financed the purchase a new patrol car. This purchase will assist the city to continue to provide quality services to the 638 citizens of this rural Northeast Missouri town.

"I am pleased to hear that with the help of competitive funds from the USDA, the City of Queens will be able to purchase a new patrol vehicle," U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill said. "The addition of this equipment will help ensure that the safety needs of the citizens of Queen City continue to be met."

“This is a great partnership effort when everyone works together for a common goal of meeting the essential needs of a community,” said Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, State Director, USDA Rural Development. “This project mirrors USDA Rural Development’s mission if being committed to the future of rural communities.” Dunning added, “Appreciation is extended to our federal elected officials for supporting the USDA Rural Development programs. They have been strong proponents for the necessary funding for essential services for rural Missourians.”
