Northeast Missouri, Aug 26, 2010 --

@@In a ground breaking ceremony on August 26, 2010, Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, Missouri State Director, USDA Rural Development announced the award of $2,135,000 loan to the Ralls County Public Water Supply District #1. Funds will be used to replace 18 miles of old “gray” line pipe that is in poor condition that will reduce water loss to the District and to construct a new 250,000 gallon elevated storage tank that will serve 2,588 customers in Ralls and Marion counties of rural Northeast Missouri. Additionally, the Ralls County PWSD#1 will provide $50,000 towards the water system improvements.

“I’m pleased to hear that with the help of low interest loan funds from the USDA, Ralls County will be able to make the necessary improvements to ensure their water supply district is safe and efficient,” U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill said. “Ensuring that citizens have access to clean drinking water is crucial for the well-being of the community.”

“This is a great partnership effort when everyone works together for a common goal of meeting the needs of a community in providing essential water storage, supply and distribution,” said Dunning. “This project mirrors USDA Rural Development’s mission of being committed to the future of rural communities. I want to personally thank everyone that has worked together to make this project a reality. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for these kinds of projects.”
