The Henderson Health Care Services, Inc. Hospital was in need of expansion, renovations and new equipment to provide additional quality healthcare services to the rural community of Henderson, Neb. and the surrounding area.

Through the USDA Rural Development Direct Community Facilities Loan program, a $1.4 million loan for the project was provided.

The hospital has an additional 4,711 square feet, which provides three new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible patient rooms; a labor and delivery suite with whirlpool tub; emergency room with a covered entrance; nursing work station and office; storage areas; and waiting area. Included in this project were new emergency room (ER) exam tables, ER modular towers, computers/bar coding system and a call light system.

The expansion and renovation of the hospital created eight temporary construction jobs in the area. Through the completed project, more staff has been able to transition from part time to full time employees (FTEs).

The 3,763 residents in the area now have access to a renovated hospital with updated equipment. The hospital serves York County-Henderson Precinct, including the City of Henderson, and also Brown Precinct, Hamilton County-Precinct 1 and Clay County-School Creek Township, City of Sutton and Sutton Township.
