The Little Priest Tribal College (LPTC) was awarded a grant in 2008 from the U.S. Department of Education. The funds renovated the college’s Legacy Building to increase student and administrative efficiency. The Legacy Building houses the administrative offices, the math and science lab/classrooms and the computer lab. With the renovation complete, there was a need for better workstations/office equipment, up-to-date technology equipment, new sound system and a campus surveillance system.
Through the Tribal College Initiative, USDA Rural Development assisted LPTC with a Communities Facility Grant of $85,500. The grant, leveraged with $4,500 from LPTC, will enable the college to purchase the needed workstations/office equipment, two servers, computers, sound system, ceiling projector and campus surveillance equipment.
Little Priest Tribal College will have the capability to deliver improved courses to its students and better working conditions for its administrative staff. The additional servers and computers will allow Little Priest to compete with other area colleges which will help retain and increase their student population. Enhanced equipment will help the administrative staff in the day-to-day activities of the college. Public access to the auditorium’s sound system for workshops will enrich the community. Lastly, the safety of the students, staff and public will be improved through the campus surveillance system.
