Rural Development State Director Thomas Williams Names Michael Ward to Lead Southeast Area

 

HARRISBURG, PA – Jan. 28, 2011 – USDA Rural Development State Director Thomas Williams announced the selection of Michael Ward to lead the Southeast area of Pennsylvania. Ward will manage a staff that serves rural communities through single and multi-family housing, community facilities, infrastructure and business development programs. In fiscal year 2010, Rural Development’s programs invested more than $956 million to rural communities throughout the Commonwealth which includes Adams, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, Philadelphia, Snyder and York Counties.

Ward is originally from Clinton County and received his B. S. in Business Management /Finance from Lock Haven University in 1989. His 14-year banking career started with Beneficial Mortgage Corporation in Williamsport where he managed branch offices for Beneficial throughout various states. In 1999, headed up Beneficial’s lending operations in New Mexico and Texas. Ward returned to Pennsylvania in 2003 and joined Rural Development in the Pennsylvania State Office, serving as a loan specialist in the Business Programs Division.

Through its Rural Development mission area, USDA administers and manages more than 40 housing, business and community infrastructure and facility programs through a network of approximately 110 employees located in 11 offices throughout the Pennsylvania. These programs are designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers, and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America.
