Kearney, Nebraska, Mar 01, 2011 -- USDA Rural Development has announced that the Village of Farnam will receive a grant of $14,300, that leveraged with $11,700 from the Village, will make needed improvements to the Farnam Public Library.
“This funding is great. Now we can accomplish the things we wanted to do for the library,” said Board Chairman Kent Larson, Village of Farnam.
The $26,000 in funds will improve the library through replacing five windows and two doors, installing a handicap accessible ramp and subfloor and floor coverings in the restrooms. New siding and shingles will be installed. A new computer and printer will be purchased.
“USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist the Village with funds for the library. These improvements will enhance accessibility and reduce energy consumption,” said Area Specialist Roberta Mues, USDA Rural Development.
