Ainsworth, Nebraska, Mar 04, 2011 -- USDA Rural Development has announced that the Village of Butte will receive a loan of $1,119,000 that leveraged with $350,000 from the Village will make needed sewer improvements.
“The Village of Butte is so grateful that the USDA Rural Development is able to partner with us in order to update our aging sewer collection system. Without the funding assistance, the Village would not be able to improve the quality of its sanitation infrastructure,” said Chairperson Robert Hansen, Village of Butte.
Funds will be used to replace all sanitary sewer main piping and manholes with a new system throughout the entire community. Approximately 21,700 lineal feet of sewer main and 63 manholes are set to be replaced. The present sewer system is old and several residences have experienced sewer backup in their basements. Manholes along the main collection line are also backing up.
“These upgrades will help the sewer system to work more efficiently and resolve the issues concerned with the lines backing up,” said Area Specialist Mary Gambill, USDA Rural Development.
Funding was provided through the USDA Rural Development Water and Wastewater Loan program. For more information contact Mary Gambill (402) 387-2242 ext. 1012.
