(NOVEMBER 17, 2010)USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT RECOGNIZES THE CITY OF NEW ENGLAND
NEW ENGLAND, ND, Nov 17, 2010 --

@@Rural Development State Director Jasper Schneider today will be meeting with local leaders from the city of New England. He will recognize the city for its efforts and strong leadership to develop economic development strategies that will create jobs and build regional economies.

The city of New England received a $73,253 Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG) award to conduct a feasibility study and business plan for a glass recycling manufacturing plant. The project is estimated at $101,993 with the remaining funds coming from other sources and contributions of in-kind services.

“This grant award will provide the necessary funds to develop a feasibility study for a proposed glass recycling manufacturing business in the community,” said Schneider. “This is an example of the ways in which we are helping strengthen the nation's rural communities by providing a foundation for job creation and economic growth.”

“The city of New England is very excited about the Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG) for the Feasibility Study - Glass Recycling Plant. The possibility of bringing more employment opportunities and a new business to South West North Dakota is a phenomenal and exciting opportunity,” said Jason Jung, city auditor for the city of New England. “The city of New England would like to thank the USDA Rural Development for their help in obtaining the grant. Rural Development is a great organization and has been a tremendous help in meeting our vision and goals. The grant has provided the city of New England and Southwest North Dakota with a great opportunity and we are proud to be associated with them.”

The RBOG program promotes sustainable economic development in rural communities with exceptional needs through provision of training and technical assistance for business development, entrepreneurs, and economic development officials and to assist with economic development planning.
