(APRIL 4, 2011) GOTHENBURG MEMORIAL HOSPITAL INC. BROKE GROUND FOR PHYSICIANS CLINIC

Gothenburg, Nebraska, Apr 04, 2011 -- USDA Rural Development Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul and staff attended the groundbreaking for Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, Inc.’s new $3.2 million physician’s clinic. USDA Rural Development provided a $2.5 million direct loan and also issued a guarantee on a $500,000 loan made by the Gothenburg State Bank. The loans are leveraged with $230,000 from Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, Inc.

“We are delighted to share in the beginning of the clinic. The new clinic will bring greater health care services to the area which is a priority of USDA Rural Development. We are pleased that we are able to assist in this great project,” said Moul.

“A special thank you to the USDA Rural Development and the Gothenburg State Bank for providing the funding to make this project possible. The vision for the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital is to provide a quality environment for the physicians of the future. This new clinic will be large enough to house the existing physicians and help to recruit future physicians. A new environment will help to bring about new innovative practices as well as enhancing a higher quality of healthcare for Gothenburg” said Chief Executive Officer, John Johnson, Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, Inc.

“We are very pleased to be part of this project and look forward to the opportunities it provides this area.  This clinic will complement our other outstanding medical facilities and will assure quality medical care, for the Gothenburg area, into the future,” said First Vice President Mike Hilderbrand, Gothenburg State Bank.

The new clinic is being constructed at the site of the existing hospital. It will consist of 13,047 square feet on the first floor and 3,252 square feet in the basement. The new facility is planned to accommodate eight physicians and will house 21 exam rooms and an office for each of the physicians.

The USDA Rural Development direct loan will be for 40 years at 3 3/4 percent interest and was funded through the Community Facility Direct loan program. The loan guarantee was provided through the USDA Rural Development Community Facility Guaranteed loan program.
