|(OCTOBER 12, 2010) REAP FUNDS BOZEMAN SOLAR ARRAY|
|Local Manufacturer Producing Electricity|
|Bozeman, MT, Oct 12, 2010
@@USDA Rural Development today joined Pacific Outdoor Equipment of Bozeman and other partners as a photovoltaic solar array was switched on. Using a $4,599 grant from the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) as well as funds from Northwestern Energy, the outdoor equipment manufacturer began generating its own electricity through a rooftop mounted solar array.
"Clean and renewable energy is a priority for the Obama Administration," said Matthew Jones, State Director for Rural Development in Montana. "The Farm Bill provided us with funds to help small businesses and producers convert to cleaner and more efficient energy consumption and production. Pacific Outdoor Equipment is a great example of what can be accomplished with our REAP program, and we encourage other rural small businesses and agricultural producers to work with us to take advantage of this great program."
In addition to Rural Development, funding was provided through a grant from Northwestern Energy, as well as a loan from First Security Bank of Bozeman. The total project cost $18,397.
Rural business owners and agricultural producers who would like to learn more about the REAP program are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming workshops sponsored by the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) and will be held in Havre on Tuesday, November 16 and Wednesday, November 17. People who attend these workshops will gain a better understanding of available loan and grant programs for energy efficiency and renewable energy development. "Tapping Clean Energy Funding for Rural Montana" participants will receive educational materials and sample applications that can be used with REAP and other loan/grant applications.
The Havre sessions are the first in a series of Clean Energy Funding workshops and webinars that will be offered around the state over the winter months. For more details on registering for either of these workshops, contact Al Kurki at (406) 449-0104 or e-mail email@example.com . The deadline for registration is November 10, 2010.
