JUNE 30, 2011 OREGON COUNTY SHELTERED WORKSHOP RECEIVES $108,300 GRANT FROM AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009
Oregon County, MO, Jun 30, 2011 --

@@USDA Rural Development Area Director, Mark Hultgren, visited the Oregon County Sheltered Workshop on Thursday, June 30th, 2011. Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, USDA Rural Development provided grant funds in the amount of $108,300 to the Oregon County Workshop. The grant money combined with $32,200 local funds, replaced the existing heat system with an energy-efficient, geo-thermal heating and air system. A geo-thermal water well was drilled and six geo-thermal heat and air units were installed for a total project cost of $140,500. The workshop provides employment for 16 handicapped citizens in Oregon County.

This is a great partnership to promote economic recovery for all by working together towards a common goal to meet the essential needs of a community,” said Missouri State Director, Janie Dunning. “This kind of assistance mirrors USDA Rural Development’s mission and President Obama’s initiative of being committed to the future of rural communities. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials including U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt plus U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson for making available the federal monies for funding this kind of project providing essential services for rural Missouri.”
