USDA Rural Development Celebrates June as Homeownership Month
Rural Housing=Rural Jobs
TORRINGTON, WYOMING– During Homeownership Month, Rural Development acknowledges and celebrates its partners that work together to put Rural Americans into their own homes. Derrel Carruth, State Director, will be in Torrington on June 28, 2011 to honor local entities for their contributions in creating housing opportunities for Wyoming citizens. The event will be held at the Book Nook Activity Center, 2017 East A. Street in Torrington at 11:00 a.m.
Certificates of appreciation will be awarded to Platte Valley Bank and Pinnacle Bank for their active participation in the Guaranteed Rural Housing Program. An award will be given to Lisa Johnson of Goshen County Economic Development for her work on the Goshen County Housing Task force. Rural Development will also recognize one of their newest 502 direct homeowners, Roxanne Gonzalez. With hard work and determination, she has made the dream of homeownership a reality.
According to the National Association of Realtors, for every two homes sold, one job is created and each home purchased pumps up to $60,000 into the economy. Derrel Carruth stated “This is a team effort. Lenders, real estate professionals, multi-family housing managers, elected officials and community members all work together to help provide affordable housing solutions for vibrant, sustainable communities. USDA Rural Development is just one of the team players.” Last year $224,755,689 in Guaranteed Loans were made in Wyoming Communities to 1281 families/individuals for homeownership.
