RURAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTS POWELL VALLEY RECYCLING, INC.

Powell, WY – USDA Rural Development in Wyoming has approved a Water and Environmental Program Loan in the amount of $127,000 and a grant for $68,000 to Powell Valley Recycling, Inc. The funds will be used to purchase and renovate an existing building into a recycling center.

Powell Valley Recycling, Inc. currently has to turn recyclables away, due to lack of space in the current facility. The new building will enable them to take more recyclables from the current clients as well as take on additional clients when the Park County landfill closes. They have additional grant funding in the amount of $50,000 from the Willard H. Moyer Foundation.

The funds were awarded through USDA Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program. Under this program, public entities, federally recognized Indian Tribes, and non-profit corporations can receive loan assistance to build, repair, and improve public water systems and waste collection and treatment systems. Rural areas, cities, and towns with populations up to 10,000 are eligible.

According to Derrel Carruth, State Director, “This is an excellent opportunity for Rural Development funds to assist Powell Valley Recycling, Inc. in providing a fundamentally valuable service to the residents of Powell and the surrounding areas.”
