Hayes Center, Nebraska, Jul 11, 2011 -- USDA Rural Development funding of $98,000 to the Village of Hayes Center, Nebraska, leveraged with $53,840 from the Village, will facilitate and finance the development of small and emerging rural, private business enterprises.
“The Hayes Center Village Board is pleased to help a local business be more successful. It is important that we support our local businesses,” said Chairman Terry Wortman, Village of Hayes Center.
Rural Development funds will be used to construct a building to be used as a grocery distribution warehouse for Scott’s Grocery in Hayes Center. Scott’s Grocery coordinates a group purchasing arrangement to supply grocery stock to three other small grocery stores in southwest Nebraska. The new facility will allow the stock to be unloaded mechanically, sorted and stored in a safe, sanitary and secure environment. The Village of Hayes Center will lease the building to Scott’s Grocery LLC. This project has the potential to provide added employment in the region.
"We have the pleasure at Rural Development to partner with local and county governments to help them meet their dreams," said Maxine Moul, USDA Rural Development State Director. "This project is a partnership to help bring jobs to the area, increase economic opportunities for existing businesses, and continue to provide affordable food and household items to residents in this rural area”
The project was funded through the USDA Rural Development Rural Business Enterprise Grant program. For more information contact Lory Cappel at the North Platte Area office (308) 534-2360 ext. 1128 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
