Humboldt, Nebraska, Jul 07, 2011 -- USDA Rural Development has announced funding of $1,592,000 to the Rural Water District No. 1, Richardson County of Humboldt, Nebraska for water improvements. The Rural Water District will contribute $200,000 towards the project.
“This water project is critical to the future of Richardson County. Without the help of USDA Rural Development this project would not be possible,” said Chairman David Harlow, Rural Water District No. 1 Richardson County.
Improvements will consist of drilling two new wells, building new transmission lines and installing blending tanks to mitigate the excessive levels of nitrates for the rural water users.
“Improving the drinking water quality for the residents of Richardson County is important to USDA Rural Development and we are pleased to be involved with this project,” said Area Specialist Sara Seidel, USDA Rural Development.
