DESPERATE MOTHER RECEIVES HARDSHIP HOUSING FUNDS
, Mar 01, 2011 --

Outline Of Need:

The Rural Development office in Sheridan, Wyoming received an application from a single mother with four children (ranging in ages from 7 to 17 years old). At the time of her application, she was paying $815 per month in rent. Shortly after filing the application, the landlord increased the rent to $945 per month plus utilities. With a harsh Wyoming winter looming in the near future, Angela Beam knew she would be unable to afford the increased amount. After a futile search to find another place for rent that would provide a suitable home for her and her family, Angela was forced to split up her family to ensure an adequate environment for her children.

How Rural Development Helped: Understanding the needs of the desperate mother to reunite her family in a safe and secure environment, the staff worked closely with Angela all the way through from eligibility to closing.

Due to end of the fiscal year funding availability, the staff requested and were granted hardship funds for this very deserving applicant.

When the closing date finally came, the applicant was so grateful to have her family reunited, she was literally brought to tears.

The Results: The Beam Family is enjoying being reunited in their safe, secure home.
