Trish Hazen, who has a family of seven, was looking for a home to meet her children’s needs. A wheelchair accessible bathroom and ramp was needed for a daughter and laminate, vinyl or tile flooring was needed for the other children with asthma and allergies issues.
USDA Rural Development provided a construction loan for the purchase and remodeling of a home in Blue Hill, NE which had been empty for 10 years. The USDA Rural Development $123,000 direct loan received in August of 2010 helped renovate the home. This construction loan also helped to spur the local economy by using local retailers such as the town’s lumber company, an area flooring company and by providing work for seven different sub-contractors from around the Blue Hill area.
Rural Development helped provide for a home which accommodates all the needs of the Hazens.
“USDA Rural Development has helped us realize our dream of home ownership. We were able to purchase and remodel a house to fit our needs. Thank you so much to the USDA Rural Development team who made this possible,” said Trish Hazen, Homeowner
