(AUGUST 31, 2011) USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT HELPS FUND A NEW MOTOR GRADER FOR KINGSTON TOWNSHIP

Kingston Township, MO, Aug 31, 2011 -- Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, Missouri State Director for USDA Rural Development, announced funding of $83,840 to Kingston Township to help purchase a new motor grader to maintain the Township’s roads. A certificate of congratulations representing the funding was presented to the Township during a funding celebration held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Kingston.

The grant funds originated from Rural Development’s Community Facility program. The community facility grants provide funding for essential public improvements to public bodies and non-profit corporations with substantial ties to the local community. The remainder of the cost of the motor grader ($75,378) was provided by Kingston Township.

Rural Development worked with Dean Snyder, Board Trustee, during the application phase of funding for the project. Dean expressed his appreciation to Rural Development for funding of the new motor grader, as the Township’s older road grader was no longer adequate to meet the needs of the township. The township was not in a financial position to purchase the motor grader without the assistance of USDA Rural Development.

“Funding of this road grader for maintaining the roads is another example of Rural Development being committed to the future of rural communities,” said Dunning. “Appreciation is extended to our federal elected officials for supporting Rural Development. They have been strong proponents for the necessary funding for essential services for rural Missourians.”

USDA Rural Development’s mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. Rural Development provides equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
