|(AUGUST 31, 2011) USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT HELPS FUND NEW PPOLICE CAR FOR CITY OF CARROLLTON|
|Carrollton, MO, Aug 31, 2011
@@Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, Missouri USDA Rural Development State Director, announced funding of $13,260 to the City of Carrollton to help purchase a new police car. A certificate of congratulations representing the funding was presented to the City during a funding celebration held on Wednesday, August 31st at Carrollton City Hall.
Dunning said, “The grant funds originated from Rural Development’s Community Facility Grant program. The community facility grants provide funding for essential public improvements to public bodies and non-profit corporations with substantial ties to the local community. The remainder of the cost of the police car ($10,855) was provided by the City of Carrollton in the form of applicant contribution.”
Rural Development worked with Kim McAuliffe, Mayor, and Terry Bell, Administrative Assistant, in the application phase of funding for the project. They both expressed appreciation to Rural Development for funding of the new police car. The police car was needed for the safety of the 4,122 citizens of Carrollton and the City was not in a financial position to purchase the equipment without the assistance of USDA Rural Development.
“Funding important projects like this police car indicates that Rural Development is committed to the future of rural communities,” added Dunning. “Appreciation is extended to our federal elected officials for supporting Rural Development. They have been strong proponents for the necessary funding for essential services for rural Missourians.”
