@@USDA Rural Development State Director Jill Harvey announced a $2,771,000 loan to the Village of Oakfield for the installation of a new 400,000 gallon water storage tank. In addition to the new tank, the Village is also replacing a
12,900 linear feet of 6 and 8 inch transmission main with a new 12 inch transmission main.
The Village is contributing $92,000 to the project and they are receiving a $600,000 NYS community renewal grant. The total project cost is $3,463,000. This new installation will serve the Villages’ 1,805 residents.
“Our programs revitalize rural communities with a variety of infrastructure improvements, and create sustainable opportunities for wealth, new jobs, and increased economic activity in rural New York. On behalf of Rural Development, I congratulate the Village of Oakfield on this new installation”, said Jill Harvey.
This funding was made possible through Rural Development’s Water and Environmental Program. WEP provides loans, grants and loan guarantees for drinking water, sanitary sewer, solid waste and storm drainage facilities in rural areas and cities and towns of 10,000 or less. Public bodies, non-profit organizations and recognized Indian tribes may qualify for assistance. WEP also makes grants to nonprofit organizations to provide technical assistance and training to assist rural communities with their water, wastewater, and solid waste problems.
