@@USDA Rural Development State Director Jasper Schneider today announced investments into North Dakota to improve the quality of life in rural communities.
"Investments into essential services and infrastructure will contribute to strengthening our rural communities,” Schneider said. “The projects announced today will improve public safety services and will make needed renovations to tribal college facilities.”
Through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities program, $713,500 is being invested into essential community facilities for public use in rural areas. These funds are available to public bodies, non-profit organizations and federally recognized Indian tribes.
Below is a list of the North Dakota projects selected to receive USDA funding:
• Powers Lake Fire Protection District (Powers Lake, ND) – $34,000 direct loan and a $50,000 grant to purchase a new fire truck. The new truck will help meet the demands put on the Fire District due to an increase of oil exploration and new home construction.
• Sitting Bull College (Fort Yates, ND) – $210,000 grant to provide additional office space.
• Turtle Mountain Community College (Belcourt, ND) – $215,000 grant to complete structural repairs.
• Fort Berthold Community College (New Town, ND) – $204,500 grant to purchase equipment and make structural improvements.
