Winnebago, Nebraska, Nov 10, 2011 -- USDA Rural Development Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul and staff joined the Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Nebraska today for a grand opening to celebrate the completion of the College’s maintenance and storage building. USDA Rural Development presented the College with a plaque for securing the funding needed for their college campus.
“We are pleased to be here today to celebrate with the Little Priest Tribal College on their newest improvement. Through the years, we have been able to assist the College with its needs, which has helped to keep their college up to date and competitive,” said Moul.
“This new maintenance facility, made possible through a USDA Rural Development grant, will serve the needs of our growing institution for years to come. Working with USDA on this project has been a good learning experience and it has been a pleasure working with Rural Development. We plan on continuing this fruitful relationship with USDA,” said College President Paul Robertson, Little Priest Tribal College.
USDA Rural Development provided a $196,400 Community Facilities Tribal College grant that was leveraged with $20,000 from the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The building offers a work area for maintenance, vehicle storage area, restroom, shower, office and a campus storage area.
USDA Rural Development has a long time funding relationship with the College. USDA Rural Development provided $335,000 towards the new library. For construction of the liberal arts classroom building, $184,861 in funding was awarded. Funding of $85,500 was provided for equipment and furnishings such as computers, workstations, servers, ceiling projector, sound system, and surveillance cameras. A feasibility study for the renovation of the administration building was funded with $14,750.
