@@New Medical Clinic Opens With Help From USDA Rural Development

ALEXANDRIA, November 10, 2011 – The residents of rural LaSalle Parish and surrounding areas now has access to a new state-of-the-art medical clinic in Olla, Louisiana.

Hardtner Medical Center received over $3 million in a Community Facility Direct and Guaranteed Loan from USDA Rural Development to provide funds to construct a new medical office complex in LaSalle Parish. "This project will enable the community to offer better quality care and services to surrounding areas, generate additional jobs and improve the economy of the rural area," said Clarence W. Hawkins, State Director USDA Rural Development. "We must continue to invest in the development of our rural communities for future growth."

  The loan, along with other investments from the hospital and the State of Louisiana, will provide a new approximately 15,000 square feet building with four pods centered around a central waiting room. There are two labs for routine services.

Funding through USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Program to individual recipients is contingent upon meeting the terms of the loan or grant agreement. USDA Rural Development's Community Facilities Program helps finance essential community facilities for public use in rural areas.

USDA Rural Development offers financial and technical assistance to individuals, businesses and communities. Rural Development programs include funding for health care centers, schools, fire trucks and other community facility projects; the purchase of homes; loans and guarantees to rural businesses to save or create jobs; and loans and grants for water and sewer utility projects.
