|A NEW, SAFE HOUSE FOR A FAMILY-JOAN STOCK-STELLA, NEBRASKA|
|, Nov 30, 2011
Joan Stock and her household resided in a home in Stella, Nebraska that was in substandard condition and was no longer feasible to repair or to restore to a livable condition.
In June of 2011, USDA Rural Development provided a Single Family Housing Direct loan of $115,918 to Joan for the purchase of a home.
Partnering with Prairie Gold Homes, which are built by Nebraska prison inmates, and Vantage Pointe Homes was key to bringing homeownership to the Stocks. The Stocks now live in a recently built Prairie Gold Home that is located on the lot adjacent to their prior residence which will be torn down. The three bedroom home is 1,008 square feet. The Stock family will enjoy a more comfortable and safe lifestyle in their new place. The local community will receive a fresh look to the central location in Stella that is visible to all visitors in the main street area.
“It is a blessing to have a nice home,” said Joan Stock.
Prairie Gold Homes, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that benefits all Nebraskans by helping inmates gain job skills and become productive citizens while building affordable, energy-efficient housing for communities.
Dan Kubr, Vantage Pointe Homes, served as the contractor for the Prairie Gold Homes project. Vantage Pointe Homes is a local producer of quality off-site constructed homes. Their immediate modular market includes Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, and part of Colorado.
