Syracuse, NY, Feb 08, 2012 -- Today, USDA Rural Development State Director Jill Harvey announced a $20,000 grant to the Village of Arkport. Funds will be used to purchase a backhoe and a snow plow truck. Today’s announcement is the second phase of funding for this new equipment. In July 2011, the village received a loan for $98,000 for the equipment.
“Oh behalf of Rural Development, we are proud to contribute funding to Arkport’s new backhoe and snow plow truck. It is an investment that is crucial to the efficiency and safety of daily life in Arkport. Under the leadership of the Obama Administration, we have completed numerous projects that represent our commitment to the residents of Arkport and are excited to partake in future projects”, said Jill Harvey.
Through its Community Facilities program, Rural Development can finance projects like hospitals, day cares, fire halls, emergency response vehicles, medical equipment, town halls, schools, assisted living and emergency response equipment. Financing is available through direct loans, loan guarantees and grants. All public bodies, Indian tribes and nonprofits with a service area of 20,000 residents or less qualify for funding.
