|Stapleton, Nebraska, Mar 06, 2012
@@USDA Rural Development in Nebraska has announced that the Village of Stapleton will receive a grant of $50,000, along with leveraged funding, to renovate an existing building for use as a community center.
The Stapleton Board decided that renovation of an existing empty building, owned by the Village, would best meet the community’s needs while enhancing the downtown,” said Bryan Rooney, Village of Stapleton.
The renovation will improve the appearance of the building; add a warming kitchen, American with Disabilities Act compliant bathroom facilities, electrical upgrades, new flooring and energy efficient heating and air conditioning.
“The Community Center will provide a centralized location for social activities that give a sense of community,” said Area Specialist Natalie Furrow, USDA Rural Development.
Additional funding includes $14,224 from the Village, $168,000 in grants, $107,438 from fund raising and $32,400 from in-kind labor. The total project cost is $372,062.
Funding was provided through a USDA Rural Development Community Facility Economic Impact Initiative Grant. For more information contact Natalie Furrow at (308) 534-2360 ext. 1129.
