BISMARCK, ND, Mar 20, 2012 --

@@USDA Rural Development State Director Jasper Schneider held a stakeholder meeting today to highlight the ways in which USDA’s programs are supporting all forms of energy production in North Dakota. Partners were also briefed on the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) which allows farmers, ranchers and businesses are able to find energy efficient solutions. Several other programs have assisted energy impacted areas meet the infrastructure demands of a growing population.

“Tapping our traditional and renewable forms of energy has created enormous opportunities for North Dakota.” said Schneider. “We have also been able to assist energy-impacted communities with housing, health care and emergency services to meet the demands of a growing industry.”

In conjunction with the meeting, an energy report was released through USDA Rural Development to demonstrate how REAP helps reduce energy use and support the development of renewable energy sources. Click here to view how the program has impacted North Dakota. Applications for REAP grants and loan/grant combinations must be submitted no later than March 30th.
