(APRIL 6, 2012) USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTS IN PURCHASE OF NEW AMBULANCE FOR JOHNSON
Johnson, Nebraska, Apr 06, 2012 --

@@USDA Rural Development is assisting the Johnson Rescue Squad, Inc. of Johnson, Neb. with the purchase of a new ambulance. Rural Development is providing $82,100 towards the vehicle with Johnson Rescue Squad, Inc. contributing $70,600.

β€œIt is imperative that the Rescue Squad have a reliable vehicle for the rescue and transportation of individuals who require immediate health care attention. The rural setting of this area makes it necessary that this type of service be maintained,” said Area Specialist Sara Seidel, USDA Rural Development.

The fulfillment of a dream, for the Johnson Rescue Squad, will soon be brought to task. With the assistance and the generosity of the people of the Johnson and Brock communities, the USDA Rural Development grant, and the perseverance of the dedicated people on the Johnson Rescue Squad, a new ambulance is on the very near horizon,” said Treasurer Larry Waskowiak, Johnson Rescue Squad, Inc.

The Squad is using a 1989 ambulance that is proving unreliable. Due to the age of the vehicle, it is not economically feasible or practical to consider major repairs. The old unit lacks the amenities/technology and safety features of a new ambulance.

USDA funding was provided through the USDA Rural Development Community Facility Direct Loan and Grant program. For additional information contact Sara Seidel at sara.seidel@ne.usda.gov or phone (402) 423-9683 Ext. 120. Visit http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/ne/.
