Paris, Apr 17, 2012 -- In a Certificate of Recognition ceremony on April 17, 2012, Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, Missouri State Director for USDA Rural Development, announced the award of $38,000 to Faith Walk Ministry. Funds were used to purchase essential equipment for their food pantry that included a refrigerated box truck, forklift, and stacker. The assistance consisted of a USDA Rural Development Community Facilities loan of $24,700 and grant of $13,000. This essential equipment allows Faith Walk Ministry to continue providing food pantry services, in a safe and efficient manner, to the 9,311 residents in Monroe County.
Harold G. Long, President stated, “We appreciate the loan and grant assistance from USDA Rural Development. The new equipment allows a more efficient operation in our food pantry, along with providing more food products to the families in need.”
“USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist Faith Walk Ministry with funding of the new equipment to benefit citizens in Monroe County,” said Missouri State Director Janie Dunning. “I want to personally thank everyone that has worked together to make this project a reality. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for these kinds of projects.”
The funds are part of the Community Facility Program, which provide loans and grants to public bodies and non-profit entities to assist in the development and improvements of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns up to 20,000 in population.
