@@In a Certificate of Recognition ceremony on April 24, 2012, Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, Missouri State Director for USDA Rural Development, announced the award of $137,000 to Penn Road Association. Funds were used to purchase a road grader. The assistance consisted of a USDA Rural Development Community Facilities loan of $137,000. This essential equipment allows Penn Road Association to continue providing quality services, in a safe and efficient manner, to the 473 residents in this rural area of Northeast Missouri.

Dean Hale, Association member stated, “Working with USDA Rural Development was a good experience. We appreciate the time and effort that was put into our project.”

“USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist Penn Road Association with funding of the new road grader to benefit citizens in this rural area of Northeast Missouri,” said Missouri State Director Janie Dunning. “I want to personally thank everyone that has worked together to make this project a reality. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for these kinds of projects.”

The funds are part of the Community Facility Program, which provide loans and grants to public bodies and non-profit entities to assist in the development and improvements of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns up to 20,000 in population.
