Aurora, Nebraska, Jun 26, 2012 --

@@A Grand Opening was held Sunday, June 24th for the Memorial Hospital in Aurora, Nebraska. The event marked the completion of the entire Master Facility Plan for Memorial Community Health, Inc. The project spanned six years with a total cost of more than $18.8 million of which USDA Rural Development helped fund through nearly $13.2 million in loans and more than $5.1 million in loan guarantees.

“Quality healthcare is important to USDA Rural Development and Nebraska’s rural residents. We are very happy to assist in this very valuable asset,” said Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul, USDA Rural Development.

USDA Rural Development funding assisted in the construction of an emergency department with an enclosed ambulance entry, two new trauma rooms, decontamination area, waiting rooms, a nurses’ station, business office and admittance area. Also included is a long term care area, a new dietary department and cafeteria, utility rooms, and a garage for the ambulance. The nursing home wing was replaced with private resident rooms. Remodeling of the radiology area, the pharmacy, respiratory therapy and specialty clinics, conference room, rehabilitation center and office space for staff, central supply and laundry were completed. Also, work was completed on the driveways, parking, sidewalks, and the heli-pad.

USDA funding was provided through the USDA Rural Development Community Facility Direct and Guaranteed Loan programs. For additional information contact Janice Stopak at Janice.Stopak@ne.usda.gov; or phone (402) 423-9683 Ext. 121. Visit http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/ne/.
