(JUNE 19, 2012) USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT HOMEOWNERSHIP RECOGNITION
Kennett, MO, Jun 19, 2012 --

@@Anita J. Dunning, Missouri State Director for USDA Rural Development, presented Juana De La Fuente with a certificate of congratulations for becoming a successful homeowner by utilizing the Rural Development Home Loan Program. The month of June is recognized nationally as “Homeownership Month”.

With the help of USDA Rural Development, Juana De La Fuente was able to purchase her first home for herself and her family. Nelda Morgan, Century 21 in Kennett, assisted Ms. De La Fuente in finding her home.

“It’s extraordinary when we have the opportunity to work at the individual level in our communities to make the dream of homeownership a reality. I am very proud to congratulate Ms. De La Fuente and her family on the result of all of her hard work to achieve this goal,” said U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson.

Now is a great time to purchase a home! Mortgage interest rates are at or near historic lows. Eligible applicants can use Rural Development housing loans to either purchase an existing dwelling or purchase a site and construct a new dwelling. The purpose of the loan is to provide individuals and families with financing at low rates and terms with no down payment. Rural Development provides assistance to very low, low, and moderate income families in our local rural communities. Loans may be made for up to 100% of appraised Market Value. The loans are financed for a term of 33 years and, under certain conditions, terms may be extended to 38 years.

Individuals or families who are interested in applying for a loan must meet certain eligibility criteria. Some of the criteria for eligibility includes: be a U.S. citizen; use the home to be purchased or built as the primary residence; be of legal age to incur a loan obligation; must have an acceptable credit history; must have repayment ability; be unable to obtain credit through a conventional lender; and the home to be purchased or built must be in a rural area. Those interested in the program are encouraged to contact the USDA Rural Development office for specifics on all the eligibility criteria.
