O'Neill, Nebraska, Jul 05, 2012 -- USDA Rural Development has awarded the O’Neill Senior Citizens’ Center Corporation $21,900 that joined by the corporation’s $117,711 will renovate the existing senior center and add a parking lot.
“We are very grateful to the O’Neill area residents and businesses for their support and generosity toward our renovation project,” said Manager Pat Bakerink, O’Neill Senior Citizens’ Center Corporation. “Also, our appreciation goes out to the USDA Rural Development for their generous assistance in helping us with our plan to provide a parking lot for our participants and to update our present facility. This is an exciting time for our town, our senior population and our senior center.”
“USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist in this project,” said Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul, USDA Rural Development. “It is important that communities have a place to congregate to share a nutritious meal, have entertainment, fellowship, health clinics, educational presentations, support groups and much more. The Senior Center is an intricate part of a community’s infrastructure.”
