Lincoln, Nebraska, Jul 09, 2012 -- USDA Rural Development has awarded Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) $223,000 through the Intermediary Relending Loan Program (IRP). The funds will establish a revolving loan fund for a 15 county area of southeast Nebraska.
“SENDD has utilized USDA Rural Development’s Intermediary Relending Program and Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) program very successfully. To date SENDD has made 22 loans to 21 businesses, with total loans funded at more than $1.7 million,” said Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul, USDA Rural Development. ‘These loans have assisted in the creation of 75.5 new jobs and the retention of 207.5 job positions.”
“SENDD is thrilled to partner with USDA Rural Development for additional capital funds from the IRP loan program. With the successful lending of our existing IRP loan program, we had little loan capital left,” said Executive Director David Taladay, SENDD. “This fund will allow us to once again help finance new business start-ups and existing business expansions. Having this loan capital available is vital towards maintaining and improving the economic vitality of communities in the SENDD region.”
“SENDD also does an excellent job providing technical assistance to new and existing small businesses which includes consultation, and business plan and loan packaging assistance,” said Moul. “Over the past four and one-half years SENDD staff has provided technical assistance to more than 265 small businesses resulting in many businesses either opening their doors or keeping their doors open.”
SENDD’s membership currently includes the counties and many of the municipalities of Cass, Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Polk, Richardson, Saline, Saunders, Seward, Thayer and York counties.
