| Buena Vista, CO, Jul 25, 2012
-- @@BUENA VISTA, CO – July 25, 2012 – USDA Rural Development Utilities Administrator Jonathan Adelstein joined Rural Electric Association members in a roundtable discussion today to gather feedback on how the Obama Administration can advance infrastructure in rural areas and improve rural economic conditions and create jobs. “Holding roundtables such as this one are a great opportunity for us to educate participants about USDA programs and other federal resources that help rural businesses, residents and communities,” said Adelstein. “It also gives us an opportunity to listen to their views.” Also as part of Adelstein’s visit to Colorado, he toured the City of Salida’s Wastewater Treatment Plant currently under construction; which was funded through a $14.7 Rural Development loan and grant combination. USDA, through its Rural Development mission area, has an active portfolio of more than $170 billion in loans and loan guarantees. These programs are designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America.
