(AUGUST 6, 2012) USDA OFFICIAL VISITS LODGEPOLE'S NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
Lodgepole, Nebraska, Aug 06, 2012 --

@@USDA Rural Development Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul and staff visited the Village of Lodgepole today to congratulate them on their more than $1.7 million wastewater treatment facility update and expansion. Rural Development provided nearly $1.3 million of the funding.

“Solid infrastructure is important to rural areas and we are pleased to have helped repair and expand the wastewater treatment facility in order to bring the system into compliance with current state standards,” said Moul.

"With the completion of the sewer project the Village of Lodgepole is in compliance with state regulations. More importantly it gives us the system and capacity for future growth,” said Chairman of the Board Alan Runge, Village of Lodgepole.

The Village of Lodgepole’s wastewater treatment facility was constructed in 1956 and no longer adequately served the community. The collection lines needed replacement and two areas of the community were not being serviced.

A complete retention lagoon system was constructed for the Village which included renovation of the existing two holding cells along with the addition of a third holding cell, allowing the system to better serve its residents and to protect the drinking water. The existing collection lines were replaced and the line service area expanded, allowing residential septic systems to be removed and connections established to the updated wastewater system. This allows service to 17 additional residences.
