(AUGUST 7, 2012) CITY OF COZAD RECEIVES GRANT FROM USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Cozad, Nebraska, Aug 07, 2012 --

@@The City of Cozad was recognized today for being the recipient of a $130,119 grant to assist the Cozad Community Hospital with an equipment purchase. USDA Rural Development Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul and staff were in Cozad, Nebraska today to make the announcement.

The Rural Economic Development Grant (REDG) received by the City will purchase a new ultrasound/Doppler machine including new server storage and a digital phone system. The addition of this equipment will result in the direct hiring of one new radiology technician and the retention of two in the ultrasound department.

“The funds are awarded to the City of Cozad as a municipal utility and will help provide for economic development in this rural area,” said Moul. “I congratulate the City of Cozad for the foresight in seeking the funding and to the Cozad Community Hospital for obtaining vital equipment needed to bring needed medical services.” The municipal utility has been certified as an eligible rural utility under the USDA Rural Utilities Service REDG program and this is the second grant announced this summer for Cozad.

“The City of Cozad is thrilled to be able to assist Cozad Community Hospital in their effort to continue to provide the very best service to our community,” said Mayor Nancy Meyer, City of Cozad.

"The USDA Rural Development loan will help us update our equipment so we can offer our patients the best possible care available and be a strong partner in our community,” said Lyle Davis, Cozad Community Hospital.

Last month, the City of Cozad received a REDG of $190,000 to assist with the renovation of an existing building located in Cozad. A call center has already expressed interest in relocating to the City. This project will create 10 jobs.
