(JUNE 25, 2012) BASS/WILSON PROPERTIES, LLC IN WILTON RECEIVES RURAL ENERGY FOR AMERICA PROGRAM GRANT TO CONDUCT FEASIBILITY STUDY ON HYDRO TURBINE
Bangor, ME, Jun 25, 2012 --

@@USDA Rural Development has selected Bass/Wilson Properties, LLC. to receive a Rural Energy for America (REAP) Grant to conduct a feasibility study.

The REAP Grant in the amount of $2,375 will assist Bass/Wilson Properties, LLC in studying the feasibility of the restoration and upgrade of an existing 1930’s hydro turbine and penstock, allowing for a grid-tied modern turbine. Power generated will be used for the reduction or elimination of an oil fired heating system and electrical demands of a commercial building.

USDA Rural Development State Director Virginia Manuel said, “I am pleased that USDA Rural Development could provide the funding needed for Bass/Wilson properties to look into green technologies to reduce emissions and potentially revitalize and restore an 80 year old hydro turbine to provide present day benefits.”

USDA Rural Development has Area Offices located in Presque Isle, Bangor, Lewiston, and Scarborough, as well as a State Office, located in Bangor. There are 69 employees working to deliver the agency’s Housing, Business, and Community Programs, which are designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, and farmers, and improve the quality of life in rural Maine.
