PROTECTING THE DRINKING WATER AND BRINGING SERVICES TO MORE RURAL RESIDENTS
Aug 30, 2012 --

The Village of Lodgepole’s wastewater treatment facility is located southeast of the Village. Their lagoon was originally constructed in 1956 and it was no longer adequately servicing the community. In addition, the collection lines needed replacement and there were two areas of the community that were not being serviced by the current collection system.

USDA Rural Development provided loans totaling $872,000 and another $401,000 in grant funds. Leveraged with the USDA funding was a $350,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $98,000 from the Village of Lodgepole which allowed for the repair and expansion of the wastewater treatment facility in order to bring the system into compliance with current state standards.

A complete retention lagoon system was constructed for the Village of Lodgepole. This included renovation of the existing two holding cells along with the addition of a third holding cell which will allow the community to service its 348 residents and protect their drinking water. The replacement of the existing collection lines and expansion of the line service area allowed residential septic systems to be removed and connections established to the updated wastewater system. This allows an additional 17 residences to be serviced.
